The thin stripes are a very prominent part of this dress and can be a symbol of divine justice. This got me thinking about a story, in the bible, about two men who were thrown into prison unjustly. A slave girl was being used by her owner to tell the fortunes of any who would pay the price. Once she was healed, she was no longer able to do that, so her owners brought charges against them and they were beaten and thrown into prison. BUT...we learn in Acts 16:25 & 26 that, "about midnight when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; suddenly there was a great earthquake, so [powerful] that the very foundations of the prison were shaken and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened." They knew God would be their defender, praising Him even before they were rescued, so they could continue to do what He had called them to do. God is forever and always our divine defender.
